Waiting on Baby

Well I have about 7 weeks until my due date and all I can do is just sit here and keep waiting on baby.
I still have quite a bit to do on my to "To Do List Before Baby is Due" but other than that I am SO ready.

I think some people up until the day the baby comes still has that feeling of "I'm not sure if I'm ready."
I've heard people say that they're not sure if they are ready for the changes in their home and if they
are ready for their relationship to change with their spouse.

But I say bring it on.

I've been waiting for this day FOREVER.
Since like the day I met my husband I knew I wanted to have his babies.
I know, that's kinda sad but it really is true.
We've had almost three years to ourselves as a married couple and six years before that as a couple.
I'd say we're pretty good in the "get to know you" department.

Even though sometimes I worry that I won't always know what to do as a new mom or
that I won't always know why Little Bit is crying, I'm still so anxious.

I'm anxious to meet this little girl and give her plenty of unconditional love.
I'm anxious to see her daddy interact with her and to become a family of three.
I'm anxious to see what she looks like and what her little cry sounds like.
I'm super curious about how big she'll be (my husband is hoping for a 9lb baby!).
I'm anxious to kiss her and hold her next to me.

It's amazing how someone who you've never met and can only feel right now,
can already have your heart.

She's not even here yet and has already stolen my heart.

I can't wait.
Hopefully we steal hers away too.

Me and my Easter Egg on Easter Sunday :)

How was your emotions right before
your first baby came?

I Don't Want to Drive My Baby

Dear Little Bit,

I never want to drive you in my car.
I know that sounds bad, right?
But after seeing someone spin their own car out of control to avoid hitting me,
I know longer really want to drive you around.
I don't usually cry over things like that,
I just think "Whew that wouldn't have been good."
But now it is different.
After seeing a speeding car almost plow into my stopped car,
with my big pregnant belly,
it really changes things.
The floodgates opened and the tears ran out the whole drive home.

I've decided that until you're like twelve years old,
I'm just going to stay home. We're not going anywhere.
I'll home school you to avoid having you ride the big yellow cheese wagon.
And I'll teach you to dance at home rather than at dance class.
Because that's how much I don't like the thought of driving you around.
It's a scary road out there.

I wonder how well those "Baby on Board" signs will work on our car.
How awesome is that car seat we have? Who knows.
And mommy can drive slow as molasses, but there are still other coo coo birds out there.

Maybe we'll fly.
There has to be somewhere that we can purchase some jet packs.
Because that's how much I don't like the thought of driving you around.

But then again, I know once you arrive...
I'll be anxious to bring you home. To your little nest.
And of course, we'll have to drive.

Interesting article on these signs, but I'm still using mine! via

Did you have a fear of driving
your baby around?

Old Wives Tale or Truth?

Okay, so here is a good one that you can answer for me...

How many of you have heard the myth that if you bend over too much or stretch your arms up above your head too much it can cause the umbilical cord to wrap around the baby's neck? Apparently my mom and aunts all believe this and don't like seeing me do those things.

If only they were home while I was organizing and cleaning. I'm always moving, bending, reaching and what not. So of course now I'm curious about this myth and Google didn't really answer my question.

So, have any of you heard this or had a doctor talk about it? I plan on asking my doc next week, but until then...

I actually thought this yesterday while grocery shopping.
So many people hold open doors and help me and smile at me.
Many people asked how I was doing too.
Wonder what they are really thinking?
Dammmnnnn looookkk at that belly.

What's your take on this old myth?

A Sneak Peek of Maternity Photos

Today hubby and I are off to church, lunch and then a movie date. YAY for squeezing in dates before Little Bit arrives. I think that is something very important to remember now and even after she comes. You always have to make time for each other no matter what.

And until tomorrow, here are some sneak peek shots from our maternity session yesterday. I am dying to see the rest and will share more next week, but here are a few good ones... ENJOY!

I'm ecstatic over them so far! I love being pregnant, how about you?

This pictures mean so much to me. Our photographer did amazing and
I am so blessed with an amazing husband. Ah, I love that guy and our Princess!

Men Poke Us and We Get Poked

As I sat there waiting for my blood to be drawn for like the third time during my gestational diabetes test, I realized men really do have it easy. Of course I've made this statement before and I knew it was true, but on that day it really rang true when I realized that was one of the many needles I've seen so far in the pregnancy. Has he seen any needles? Nope.

In fact I even made the comment to my mom, "Men just get to poke us the fun way and then we get poked the crappy way after." He did his part; and in my opinion his part was easy and of course fun. Now he just sits back and waits for his beautiful little girl to come hurling out of my hoo-hah.

Men may be stronger in terms of usually having more body strength to do things like open the pickle jar or take a giant box down with only one hand; but we really are the strong ones. Women are the powerful ones. We do the one thing men can't - we give birth. Does a man ever really consider the fact that not only does a woman have to go through the experience of childbirth but she also has to get poked and prodded along the way for nine months? Do they really realize how much our tatas really hurt as they change and do they have any idea how hard it is to put on shoes in the morning with a basketball sitting under your shirt? I don't think they do.

Pregnancy is about so much more than just a little pain at childbirth -- it's about a whole lot of "Don't come near me with that needle" and "That orange drink they made me chug down had my belly really to explode." And let's not forget the "Is it okay to eat two hotdogs or should I just eat one?" Or "Darn, I peed my pants again."

Men really just don't know. They're not quite as cool as us--they don't get to grow a baby. Therefore, I declare women the superior sex. I think we all knew that, but seriously...we really are.

how cute is this?!?!? via

Tell your guy, women ROCK.

A Baby Shower After the Baby

Today I am attending my best friend's shower who was supposed to be about 33 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow, but her little man decided he was ready to enter this world on Monday, February 26. At 32 weeks, her water broke and her contractions took off and within just a couple of hours her son was born at 4lbs 14oz. Quite a little potato; but thankfully he was a potato because the more weight the better.

He didn't need oxygen quite a first and they were able to hold him before he was brought to NICU where he was been since. He was on oxygen for a little while but now he is off and is such a little trooper! He's taking some bottles; treating his jaundice; and chilling in his fancy incubator. Can't imagine how hard it is to have to leave in the evenings and go home without your baby; but all that matters is that he is safe and healthy and in good hands. He is so freaking adorable and I can't wait to hold him. I'm looking forward to many play dates with our little bambinos!

Just wanted to share with you guys! My nephew was born at 27 weeks at 2lbs 5.6 oz. and is now an adorable, smart and ridiculously funny 4.5 year old. God always answers prayers. And miracles really do exist. And thank goodness for wonderful hospitals with awesome staff.

{My best friend and I...she's about 20 weeks here and I was 16 weeks}
Our babies are actually second cousins :)
So proud of how strong she's been in handling this!

Happy Sunday, Funday!

My First Shot in the Butt

Well it has officially happened. After going 20+ years without ever having to receive a shot in my hindquarters, it finally happened yesterday. And it was anything but pretty.

Somehow through the years I've always managed to avoid having to get shots. I'm not one to run straight to the doctor for a cold and beg for a shot; I usually just take over the counter meds or an antibiotic. I was actually always proud to say I never received a shot in my hiney.

However now I have a sore hiney.

Apparently since I am A- blood type, I have to receive an injection because my blood is missing the Rh factor and basically my blood and my baby's blood could mix and start a war up in there. I'm a bit disappointed that my doctor didn't actually explain this shot to me; she just said "you need a shot because you're A-." Okay. Cool. What does that mean?

It wasn't until a conversation with my sister in law that I actually learned about it and then yesterday the nurse who gave me the shot actually answered my questions. Apparently people with this blood type were only able to have one child in the past because their blood would create antibodies that would try to fight off future pregnancies. Or something like that. Now because of the shot (and more future shots), I can have more kiddies and not have to worry.

Worry, me?

You're talking to someone that worries about the slightest things. You're talking about someone that wants like 3-4 children and seriously hopes she can. So am I worried? Sure maybe so. I'm not like freaking out and it's not like this is just me, but I've never heard of all this.

So, I'm curious how many readers have a negative blood type and have had to do these shots? And then had multiple babies?

And did I mention it was a ridiculously long needle? Thank goodness my husband was there, but even the needle freaked him out. I could have never done that by myself.

Next time, I want that sucker in my arm.

{nursery furniture came in yesterday! can't wait to share pictures}

Any mamas have had to do this?
